Sustainability

CRADLE-TO-CRADLE. THROUGH AND THROUGH.

Shaw is the first flooring manufacturer on the planet to employ the cradle design philosophy and have our products Cradle to Cradle Silver Certified. What does that mean? It means we design with abundance in mind. This way, our products can be reclaimed, disassembled and remanufactured back into more products again and again. Waste is not an option.

SUSTAINABLE VARIETY

More than 4,000 colors and styles to choose from, fully customizable for endless design possibilities. All of them Cradle to Cradle Silver Certified and engineered for long-term performance on the floor.

CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY

Rooted in our drive to continuously improve our business and our planet, our corporate sustainability principles guide everything we do. From maintaining the highest ethical standards to conserving energy and water to designing cradle-to-cradle products that can be remanufactured over and over again. Because setting the standard for sustainability is more than our responsibility. It’s also good business.

Some of the ways we make good on our promise of Sustainability through Innovation: Social Responsibility, Operational and Environmental Excellence, Innovative Products and Services.

Carpet recycling: It’s in our moral fiber.

Shaw leads the industry in carpet reclamation, collecting nearly 41 million kilograms/90 million pounds annually and recycling them through our various recycling programs

Evergreen: Where old nylon 6 becomes new nylon 6.

The world’s largest nylon 6 recycling facility in Dalton, Georgia, USA where approximately 85% of reclaimed carpet is recycled carpet-to-carpet.

Re2E: Reclaiming energy. Preserving natural resources.

Our new carpet-to-energy facility that puts reclaimed energy to work, converting more than 34 million kilograms/75 million pounds of reclaimed carpet materials into steam and electricity for the manufacturing site.

Clear Path: So many bottles, so much recycling.

A joint venture between Shaw and DAK Americas, Clear Path Recycling (CPR) recycles post-consumer plastic drinking bottles into recycled PET flake (RPET). The new facility will help reduce Shaw energy intensity 25% by 2018.
